The Kerala government on Saturday made public the summary of the Supreme Court verdict permitting women of all ages to enter the famed Sabarimala temple in form of a book. The book, titled ‘Sabarimala: The women’s right to worship‘, is being distributed freely. Around 25,000 copies were published.
A PDF version of the 60-page book is being widely circulated across the social media. The book was edited under the supervision of IAS TV Subhash, Director I&PRD.
The preface of the book was written by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The book also gives a detailed account of the verdicts given by all five judges.
On September 28, a five-judge constitution bench in a 4:1 verdict paved the way for the entry of women of all ages into the Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala in Kerala saying that the prevalent practice of banning women of 10 to 50 years amounted to gender discrimination.
The hill-top shrine has witnessed violent protests in support of and against the apex court verdict recently.
