One more infiltrator killed on the LoC, one soldier also lost his life

The Army has claimed to have killed another infiltrator on the Line of Control in North Kashmir’s Uri sector.

So far two infiltrators and an Army jawan have been killed in the encounter that started soon after a group of heavily armed infiltrators tried to sneak into the Valley through Choutali village.

Defense spokesman said that the second infiltrator was killed near Torna post.

“On Friday one militant was killed and a soldier also lost his life in the encounter. Today morning the contact was again established with the militants hiding in the forested area resulting in the killing of another militant,’’ he said adding that three AK-47 rifles and three rucksacks were also recovered from the site of the operation.

The spokesman said the operation is still underway and troops are searching the area close to the Line of Control. “We are trying to retrieve the bodies of militants.’’

On Friday, the jawans of SIHKLI regiment on the Line of Control had noticed movement of a heavily armed militant group near Torna post in the wee hours. The Army said the militants were trying to infiltrate into the Boniyar area of Baramulla through Hapathkai Nala.
