Hours after he was released on interim bail, prime accused in a 2010 murder, was allegedly hacked to death while his friend was shot at by a group of eight men inLimditown of Surendranagar district late on Tuesday night with police saying it is a case of revenge killing.
Raghuvirsinh Jadeja, who was prime accused in 2010 murder of Bhupedrasinh alias Bhupi Rana, was assaulted by the group of eight men when he was sitting with his friend Nirav Kapuria in Shukal Street of Limdi between 10:30 pm and 11 pm on Tuesday, Limdi police said. The assailants hacked Jadeja to death with swords. Giriraj Vaghela, who was leading the murderous gang, fired at Kapuria after the latter tried to save his friend Jadeja, Kapuria stated in his complaint.
“The assailants inflicted seven to eight cuts on Jadeja’s face and other parts of body. He was rushed togovernmenthospital inLimdiwhere doctor declared him brought dead,” Limdi police sub-inspector Babubha Zala said.

Police said a bullet went through Kapuria’s right thigh and he is now undergoing treatment in a hospital in Ahmedabad. After the attack, the accused managed to run away.
“The complainant is claiming that this is a case of revenge killing. The Gujarat High Court had granted Jadeja interim bail for a month and he was released from jail inSurendrangarearly on Tuesday. However, he was murdered while he was sitting with his friend after reachingLimdi,” deputy superintendent of police (DySP) ofLimdi, Gaurav Jasani told The Indian Express.
Police said Jadeja, who had a garment shop inLimdi, was prime accused in alleged hacking to death Bhupi Rana, also a strongman ofLimdiin year 2010. He was arrested in connection with the murder case and was lodged inSurendrangarjail.
In his complaint, Kapuria named Giriraj Vaghela, Kripalsinh Zala, Paresh Dabhi, Salim Pathan, Rajdeep Jala, Arjun Zala,DipalJadeja and Jayvirsinh Zala—all residents ofLimdias accused. On the basis of this complaint,Limdipolice have booked eight men for murder, rioting and under arms act and started the further investigation.
