Delhi Mayor Rajni Abbi Monday slammed Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit over her statement about MCD administration being “totally ineffective” and alleged that it was a ploy to divert attention from “indictment” of the city government regarding Commonwealth Games.

“It is a clever ploy to divert attention from Shunglu Committee report which has strongly indicted the Delhi government for its inefficient and corrupt handling of the projects and works relating to Games,” she said.

The Mayor claimed that the Chief Minister was focusing on dividing MCD to suit her “whims and fancies”.

Abbi also appealed to the “conscience” of all the councillors and MLAs irrespective of party line to resist the move of the Delhi government to split the MCD in five parts apparently referring to a section of city Congressmen which are opposing the proposal being pushed by Dikshit.

Chairman of Standing Committee Yogendra Chandolia said the Chief Minister is “perturbed by the revolt of Congressmen,Delhi government’s indictment by Shunglu committee and allegations of corruption against one of her ministers.

“The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has become just a medium to vent her ire,” he said.
