Daughter,3 others held for man’s murder

Gurdaspur police Tuesday arrested an 18-year-old girl for the murder of her father,which took place on the intervening night of March 9 and 10.

Gurdaspur police Tuesday arrested an 18-year-old girl for the murder of her father,which took place on the intervening night of March 9 and 10. Ekas is among four accused arrested by police for the murder of a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) Ashwani Kumar (46).

Gurdaspur Senior Superintendent of Police Rajjit Singh said Ekas had an affair with one Hari Om,who ran a shoe shop near her house,and Ekas’s father was opposed to the affair.

The SSP said Ekas hatched a plan to get her father killed and elope with Hari Om. “She also planned to get the house looted,” he added.

As per complaint made by the deceased’s wife Ritu Mahajan,looters attacked her husband when the entire family including Kumar,herself and two daughters Ekas and Chhaya (16) were asleep.

The SSP said besides Ekas and Hari Om,police also arrested Hari Om’s accomplices Anmoldeep Sharma and Mithu Kumar,while another accomplice Zorawar Singh was absconding.

Man held for killing father-in-law

Police have arrested one Ranjit Singh for the murder of his father-in-law Gurcharan Singh,who had come to broker amity between her daughter Jasmeet Kaur and son-in-law Ranjit Singh,after Kaur complained to her father that Ranjit maltreated and beat her. Police said Gurcharan was thrashed at about 10:30 pm at Zaffarwal village by Ranjit Singh,his neighbour Lakhbir Singh and his two sons Gurbhej Singh and Amandeep Singh and four to five other persons.
