A day after a widow alleged that a police team had reached her house in mann village to arrest her dead husband,the police officials Tuesday rubbished the charge as false. No person with the name of Mithu Singh Chela is wanted in any police FIR. The allegations levelled on us are false, SSP Muktsar,Surjit Singh,said.
On Monday,Chelas wife,Surjit Kaur,had told the former Congress working committee (CWC) member Jagmeet Brar that police had reached her place to arrest her husband as he is one of the 125 persons named in the FIR in connection with the May 19 poll violence at the Mann village. Some other villagers had also alleged that they were being harassed by the police.
The SSP,however,said,No one is being harassed in Mann poll violence case. A special investigation team is performing its duty as per the law. If anyone has some complaint,they can come approach us.
District Congress president Gurdas Girdhar claimed it was evident that police authorities will give such a statement.
