The inauguration of Bikaner-Ratangarh Passenger train turned acrimonious after BJP MP Arjun Ram Meghwal arrived late for the event and the train was flagged off by Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sachin Pilot. Meghwal, who reached a few minutes late, was appalled to see that the ceremony had been conducted without waiting for him and threatened to take up the matter at the highest level.
Pilot, who was in Bikaner overseeing the progress of the Congress primaries, was invited to the flag-off. Sources in the Railways said that all the guests had arrived by the stipulated time and there was no intimation from Meghwal’s end. Hence senior Railways officials decided that the flag-off be done by Pilot.
“I reached only a few minutes late and was shocked to see that the train had already left. As an MP I had pressed hard for this train and my efforts should have been acknowledged. How could the officials not wait for me? I will take up the matter with the Centre and senior Railways officials,” Meghwal said.
