10 held for duping aspiring medical students

Ten members of a gang were arrested on Tuesday in Amritsar for allegedly duping people on the pretext of arranging admission in MBBS and MD courses at the SGPC-run Sri Guru Ram Dass Medical College.

Ten members of a gang were arrested on Tuesday in Amritsar for allegedly duping people on the pretext of arranging admission in MBBS and MD courses at the SGPC-run Sri Guru Ram Dass Medical College. Additional Deputy Commissioner Harjit Singh Brar told mediapersons: “While Sukhbir Singh,Sukhwinder Singh,Paramjit Kaur,Amarinder Singh,Manjit Singh. Bharat Bhushan,Angrej Singh,Ravi Kant,Nishan Singh and Joginder Singh have been arrested,six others booked in the case were absconding.” The police have recovered Rs 22 lakh in cash,laptop,fake identity cards,passports,computer and scanner from the accused,he added. The accused had allegedly published advertisements in newspapers stating they will arrange for admission in MBBS and MD courses under the management quota. The case was registered in the beginning of June after the accused decamped with the money of the duped victims.
