Renowned Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali has been invited to perform at the Thane during a cultural festival organised by an NGO headed by NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad.
The cultural event will be held next month. Awhad tweeted welcoming Ali to the festival to be held from February 11-14.
The development has evoked sharp reaction from Shiv Sena leaders who have threatened to stall the function. They have warned that they would not allow Ghulam Ali to perform in Maharashtra. Leaders of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena too hinted at taking to streets to protest the performance.
