Former PM Manmohan Singh discharged from AIIMS

Singh had been admitted to a private ward in the cardio-neuro centre of the hospital and is under the care of a team of cardiologists led by Dr Nitish Naik.

His wife Gursharan Kaur in a statement on Monday confirmed that the former prime minister has been released from AIIMS and is back home. “My family and I are pleased to inform all our friends and well wishers that Dr. Manmohan Singh has come home from the hospital and is recovering from his bout of dengue fever,” the statement read.

“On this occasion, we would like to convey our special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and support staff of AIIMS and numerous well-wishers for their whole-hearted support and hard work for his speedy recovery,” it added.

Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had visited the hospital and met Singh.

A row had erupted after Mandaviya’s visit, as he allegedly took a photographer with him while visiting the former prime minister. Manmohan Singh’s daughter, Daman Singh, had hit out at Mandaviya for bringing the photographer against the wishes of the family.
