Delhi University has no plans of holding decentralised entrance examinations for its undergraduate and postgraduate courses in near future and will follow the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the central government, Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh said Monday.

This comes amid the ongoing controversy related to NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) and UGC-NET (University Grants Commission–National Eligibility Test) and the irregularities highlighted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Speaking to The Indian Express, Singh said, “If the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) results are announced by July 25, then this year’s session will commence by August 15 or 16. This year, the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) election will also be delayed as it cannot happen without the students of the first year on campus.”

Earlier, the varsity announced that they plan to commence the session by August 1. The elections for DUSU usually take place in September every year.

Meanwhile, The Indian Express learnt that four DU colleges  — Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, Mata Sundri College for Women, and Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College  — have presented a representation this year stating that, “As per the decision of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, it has been decided to disassociate our …four Khalsa Colleges from the DUSU henceforth.”

Singh further underlined that the varsity will call a special Academic Council meeting on August 23 to discuss the issue of the 12 DU colleges that are funded by the Delhi government.

“There was a request in the previous Academic Council meeting where members suggested that a separate meeting should be held to discuss the future of the 12 DU colleges funded by the Delhi government,” Singh added.
