CBI is likely to submit its report on the probe into Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter killing case of Gujarat in the Supreme Court by July 30,sources in the agency said here on Wednesday.

While transferring the 2005 episode to CBI in January this year, the Supreme Court had asked it to file a report within six months of starting investigations into the high- profile case in which former Gujarat Minister Amit Shah and four IPS officers are among the accused.

The agency filed a fresh FIR on February 1 in Mumbai and commenced investigations by recording the statements of witnesses and collected evidence from Gujarat CID which was handling the case earlier.

With the apex court-fixed deadline coming to an end on July 31,CBI officials are busy giving final touches to the report which is likely to be submitted in the next couple of days, they said.

The investigation agency has arrested three accused,Shah,IPS officer Abhay Chudasama and one Rajendra Jirawala,in whose farmhouse Sohrabuddin and his wife Kausarbi were allegedly kept before being killed.

The earlier arrests were made by the state CID.

Today,CBI questioned Inspector K M Waghela, who was with Gujarat ATS when the fake encounter had taken place near here in November 2005.
