8-year-old ‘raped’, left partially buried in Solan

Reports suggest the accused lured the girl by offering her a packet of chips.

A Class III student was allegedly raped and killed in Chhachi, near Haripur in Solan district, on Saturday. The body of the 8-year-old girl was found partially buried on Sunday. Later in the day, police arrested a Class IX student of the Government Senior Secondary school in Haripur, who has reportedly confessed to the crime, said SP (Solan) Ramesh Chhajta. The accused is apparently a relative of the girl’s family. Said Chhajta, “The girl’s body was sent for a postmortem to the Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla.” An FIR has been registered at the Kandaghat police station.Reports suggest the accused lured the girl by offering her a packet of chips when she was on her way home from school.
