Tripura CPI(M) chief Jitendra Chaudhary rues lost chance, says AAP-Cong combine could have thwarted BJP in Delhi

Chaudhury, however, lauded the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP and said that the party “showed the nation that a government can make significant strides in public services like providing free power, nearly free drinking water, free education… On the contrary, the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and the BJP are trying to push back the education system of the country to the medieval ages. The AAP performed despite pressure from the central government; since Delhi isn’t self-sufficient like other states and the Home Department is under the Centre.”

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader also criticised the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and the Delhi Police for trying to “cripple” the AAP-led Delhi government.

Chaudhury claimed that former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and a few other AAP ministers were sent to jail under “false cases of corruption”.

Thereafter, the CPI(M) leader also criticised the Tripura government, claiming that “the BJP is running the show by singing praises of the prime minister. As time goes on, this government has turned into a government of commission (bribe). There is severe corruption from the panchayat to the secretariat level.”

Highlighting incidents of clashes in different parts of the state, Chaudhury said, “Factional feuds (within the BJP) have started in Dharmanagar, Bishalgarh, Sonamura, and parts of Agartala city. They (BJP) claim they are the largest political party and have recently held an ‘election’ to appoint Mandal (Assembly-constituency level) leaders. Soon after, there were pitched battles among their supporters in different areas.”
