5-year-old battles for life after being raped by ‘drunk’ teenager in Madhya Pradesh: Police

“The girl was lured away from her home and the accused committed sexual acts on her because of which she was seriously injured. We are investigating allegations that she was also slammed into a wall,” a senior police officer said Thursday.

According to police, her parents had searched for her over two hours before they found her in a pool of blood near their home.

A medical official said the girl is stable after being admitted to the ICU. “The victim is stable and was looked after by a special team of doctors. We are hopeful that she will survive,” the official said.

Police have said the accused had been apprehended.

“We are currently questioning the accused and will soon take a decision on whether we should move an application to try him as an adult,” the police officer said.

Local politicians staged protests against the incident.
