Three Maoists were killed in an encounter with the security forces on the inter-district border of Dantewada and Sukma in south Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region Sunday evening.

The incident took place around 5.30 pm in a forest area near a hill between Tumkapal village and Dabakunna village, around 50 km from Dantewada headquarters.

Around 4.30 pm, a joint team of Bastar Fighters and District Reserve Guard led by DSP (anti-Naxal operations) Rahul Uikey, left Tumkapal police camp.

An hour later, when the team was moving towards Dabakunna, an encounter took place. When firing stopped, the force found the bodies of three Maoists, wearing uniforms of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army, the armed wing of the CPI (Maoist).

“We have found weapons, ammunition and Naxal materials. We are trying to identify the deceased,” said SP, Dantewada district, Gaurav Rai. ENS
