Alia Bhatt has been named the first Indian global ambassador for Gucci, the Italian luxury house, and will make her first appearance as the brand’s latest global ambassador at the Gucci Cruise 2024 show, to be staged in Seoul next week.
Bhatt’s appointment, which comes close at the heels of her much-anticipated Met Gala debut, is a significant moment for the brand and for the Indian fashion industry. It is the first time that the brand has appointed an Indian celebrity as a global ambassador, in what seems to be a growing global recognition of the Indian market.
The actor, producer and entrepreneur will make her first public appearance as Gucci’s ambassador at the Gucci Cruise 2024 runway show at the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, which will mark the 25 years since the brand opened its first store in the country.
In a post on Instagram, the actor wrote, “I’m honored to represent the house of Gucci not only in India but at a global stage. Gucci’s legacy has always inspired and intrigued me and I’m looking forward to the many sartorial milestones we create together.”
