NEET UG 2025 Exam Analysis Updates: Students rate Physics challenging among all

Students and experts agree that the Physics portion in NEET UG 2025 was among the toughest in recent years. The paper included deeply conceptual and numerically tricky questions that required strong problem-solving skills.

Although not too difficult concept-wise, the Biology section—including Botany and Zoology—was lengthy. Students said they had to spend extra time reading and answering due to the detail in the questions.

With the paper being tougher overall and the return of the pre-COVID pattern, experts believe it may be more difficult for students to score in the top percentile compared to past NEET exams.

The reappearance of multiple correct option-type questions in Chemistry caught many students off guard. These questions demand extra reading and critical thinking, which increased time pressure during the exam.

Feedback suggests a clear spike in Physics difficulty this year. Questions were lengthy, with a strong emphasis on conceptual clarity and application-based reasoning.

Due to the length of questions in all subjects—especially Biology and Chemistry—students faced difficulty completing the paper comfortably within the allotted time.

The Chemistry section stood out for its challenging format, especially with the inclusion of multiple correct answers. Students spent a lot of time reviewing and rechecking such questions.

While Biology was not difficult content-wise, the number and length of questions made it time-consuming. Many students had to rush through the final questions.

Experts suggest that the challenging paper, especially Physics and Chemistry, might bring down the overall cutoffs this year as students found it harder to attempt all questions with accuracy.

According to expert reviews of this year's paper, the exam was relatively difficult compared to previous years.

Three men were detained by the Special Operations Group of Rajasthan Police for allegedly trying to dupe a NEET candidate of Rs 40 lakh by promising him the question paper, an officer on Sunday said. The accused were identified as Balwan, 27, Mukesh Meena, 40, and Hardas, 38, according to police.

On Friday, the three took the student and his family members to Gurugram and asked for the money, at which point the student's family asked them to show the paper. When they refused, they contacted the SOG, which apprehended the three on Saturday. The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test, or NEET-UG, is underway today to qualify candidates for admissions in medical colleges across India.

Members of the Brahmin community staged a protest outside a NEET exam centre here, demanding accountability after some students of the community were asked to remove their "sacred thread" (Janivara) before entering the exam hall.

This incident comes close on the heels of a similar one during the Common Entrance Test held for engineering and other vocational courses on April 16, where the sacred threads of Brahmin boys were also removed.

Following the incident, the state government initiated action against the officials involved, including registration of a case. It also issued directions to prevent such occurrences in the future. However, on Sunday, the Brahmin candidates were either asked to remove the sacred thread or had it cut before entering the exam hall. Enraged over this, hundreds of community members gathered outside the NEET exam centre, raised slogans and staged a sit-in demonstration.

NTA starts NEET UG Exam

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate courses (NEET UG) 2025 is being conducted across the country on Sunday by the National Testing Agency (NTA), with thousands of aspiring medical students appearing at various examination centers across the nation. Lakhs of students participate in the exam every year, which determines admission to MBBS, BDS, and other undergraduate medical courses in India.

This year, the NTA has taken "all measures" to ensure the integrity of the exam. Candidates will undergo thorough checks by district police, in addition to NTA's standard security protocols, before entering exam centers.

Question papers and OMR sheets will be transported under full police protection to prevent any tampering or leaks. Authorities will closely monitor coaching centers and online platforms to prevent organized cheating networks.Exam centers will be equipped with CCTV cameras to ensure transparency and accountability.

Prohibitory orders will be imposed in Jharkhand's capital Ranchi, in view of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG-2025 on Sunday, an official said. The examination is scheduled to be held in 22 centres in the city from 2 pm to 5 pm during the day, he said. The prohibitory orders under the BNS section 163 will be in effect from 11 am to 8 pm on May 4 within a 200-metre radius of all NEET UG-2025 examination centres in the city, according to a statement issued by the Ranchi administration.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed immediate suspension of 26 MBBS students found complicit in NEET-UG 2024 malpractices and cancelled admission of 14 students for the academic year 2024-25 for resorting to unfair means during the entrance exam, an official source said. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, or NEET, is a pan-India exam to taken by aspirants to get admission into the country’s medical colleges.

As the NEET examination approaches, authorities are ramping up security measures to prevent malpractice. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Cyber Sanjay Kumar announced that full preparations are in place, with advisories issued and two specialised teams deployed. Speaking to the media, Kumar urged the public to report any illegal offers related to the exam.

"We are entirely prepared for the NEET exam. The advisory has been issued for the examination. If anyone makes any illegal offer, then I request everyone to report it. We have formed two teams. We have a social media team who is putting an eye on everything and another is the raid team," the DIG Cyber said.

A high-level meeting was convened on Friday at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha to review the final preparations for the upcoming NEET (UG) 2025 examination, scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 4. According to an official press release, a total of 4,892 candidates from Tripura will appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), one of the most competitive medical entrance exams in the country. The exam will be conducted across 11 centres in the state -- 10 located in West Tripura district and one in Dhalai district.

Mock drills were conducted in all NEET-UG exam centres across the country Saturday as 22.7 lakh candidates are set to appear for the exam Sunday, a year after the paper leak controversy rocked the medical entrance examination sending the Centre and the NTA into a tizzy. The exam will be conducted in 5,453 centres in around 500 cities, compared to  4,750 centres last year. Around 22.7 lakh candidates have registered for the exam, down from 24 lakh last year.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has cautioned NEET UG 2025 aspirants against rumours and misleading information about the exam. In a post on microblogging site, X, the Agency claimed that they have made all the preparations of NEET UG 2025 for safe and secure conduct of the exam. The Agency with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre also took cases against some portals through its ‘Suspicious Claims Portal on NEET UG 2025’.

–Original and valid photo identification: Any one of PAN card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar Card, Ration Card, or Class 12 admit card with a photograph.

–PwBD certificate (if applicable): Candidates claiming relaxation under the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category must carry the certificate issued by the competent authority.

Candidates without these documents, especially the admit card and valid photo ID, will not be allowed to enter the examination hall, as per NTA rules.

–Printed copy of the Admit Card: This must have the candidate’s passport-size photograph pasted on it, which should be the same as the one uploaded during the application process.

–One passport-size photograph: Identical to the one uploaded in the application form, to be pasted on the attendance sheet at the exam center.

Physics remains the wildest forest it always was — dense, unmapped, and full of labyrinthine puzzles that don’t give up their answers easily. It’s not a subject that opens its arms to you like Biology frequently does. Solving a Physics question is often like trying to unscrew a rusty bolt — the more you rush, the tighter it gets.

Earlier, if a Physics question seemed too challenging, you could simply pick easier ones from Section B. Now, there’s no section division. Every single question is compulsory, and you have three hours. Physics will not suddenly become easy just because the rules have changed. The calculations will still chew through your minutes. That means you must save time aggressively in Biology and Chemistry by flying through the easy questions, spending less than a minute per question, and sometimes even thirty seconds if you can. You need to move through the memory-based questions quickly, without second-guessing yourself. Save your brainpower and minutes for the bigger Physics challenges arriving later.

“There will be three layers of monitoring on the exam day — at the district, state, and Centre levels,” a Ministry of Education source said.

Authorities in the states have been directed to ensure availability of water, uninterrupted power supply, and first aid/ambulance services.
