Delhi Nursery Admission 2025-26 Updates: The Delhi government’s Department of Education (DoE) has released the first merit list for admissions to nursery, kindergarten (KG), and Class 1 in private unaided recognized schools on  January 17. Most schools have also released a waiting list.

The window for submitting allotment-related queries will be open from January 18 to January 27.

To check the merit list, parents must check the school’s notice board or official website. They can also visit edudel.nic.in for more information on the merit list.

If needed, the department will release a second list of selected children on February 3, and the resolution window for the same will be open from February 5 to February 11. The admission process is scheduled to conclude officially on March 14.

In the event of a tie among applicants for admission to nursery, KG and Class 1, a draw of lots will be conducted, either using a computerised system or by drawing slips in the presence of parents. The circular stated that the draw would be videographed and the school would retain the footage.

As part of the process, 25 per cent of seats are reserved for students from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), disadvantaged Groups (DG), and children with disabilities. Students with an annual family income of less than Rs 5 lakh are eligible under the EWS category.

Delhi Nursery Admission 2025 1st Merit List Live Updates: School-wise number of students selected

Delhi Public School, East of Kailash, has shortlisted 108 candidates, and 245 are on the waiting list. Similarly, Vikas Bharati Public School, Vasant Kunj, has selected 140 students and listed 20 on the waiting list.

Sudha Acharya, the principal of ILT Public School, Dwarka, said 97 candidates have been selected in the first round and 53 are on the wait list.

Namita Singhal, the principal of Venkateshwar Global School, Rohini, mentioned that 108 students have been shortlisted, with nine on the waiting list.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation-run Mumbai Public Schools, which offer non-state board curriculum such as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of School Education (ICSE), continue to get overwhelming response to its call for admissions. As the admission application process for the academic year 2025-26 concluded on Wednesday, a total of 2,459 applications have been received for 1,242 seats available in a total of 21 MPS offering various non-state board curriculums.

These applications are all for nursery class admissions which is the entry level stage in pre-primary section at any school. BMC education officer Rajesh Kankal said, “This clearly indicates great response for civic schools in Mumbai. This decision to offer more popular non-state board curriculums in MPS has really attracted many parents to civic schools of varied demographics. We now see children from well-to-do-families taking admission in MPS due to good quality of education coupled with many facilities that are offered to students at civic schools.”
