CUET UG 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct another shift of the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2024 exam in Kanpur on May 29, a senior NTA official told indianexpress.com.
The exam will be conducted only for a select group of students, who could not appear for the exam at the Maharana Pratap Group of Colleges exam centre. This decision was taken after a wrong question paper was distributed on May 15.
“In one of the exam centres, the invigilators mistakenly distributed English medium question paper to the Hindi medium students. It affected nearly 215 students, who could not appear for the exam on that day, i.e. May 15. So we will conduct an exam for those affected students on May 29. However, this is not a re-exam,” a senior NTA official told indianexpress.com.
NTA will also conduct CUET UG exam for Delhi exam centres on May 29, as the exam was postponed on May 14 night due to ‘manpower issues’.
Meanwhile, the NTA has also refuted reports of alleged paper leak in the country. “There has been no paper leak in CUET UG exams. It was an isolated incident of wrong question paper distribution in Kanpur’s one exam centre,” said the top NTA official.
A similar incident had taken place in relation to NEET UG exam, when at one centre in Rajasthan — Girls Higher Secondary Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Mantown, Sawai Madhopur — Hindi medium students were handed English medium question papers. Their exam was conducted on the same day itself, i.e. May 5.
NTA had refuted the reports of the paper leak in NEET UG exam too.
CUET UG 2024 commenced on May 15, and the undergraduate entrance exam was conducted at 2,157 examination centres across the country and in 26 cities outside. The UGC has claimed that the overall attendance on the first day of CUET UG 2024 was over 75 per cent. In total, 643752 candidates appeared for Chemistry exam in 1640 centres, 363067 candidates in 1368 centres for Biology, 862209 candidates in 2077 centres for English, and 721986 candidates in 1892 centres appeared for General Studies.
