CBSE Board 10th, 12th Result 2025, Cbseresults.nic.in Highlights: Results declared for Class Xth and XIIth; over 37.1 lakh students pass

In the CBSE Class 12 exams 2025, girls once again outperformed boys, recording a pass percentage of 91.64%, slightly up from 91.52% in 2024. Boys registered a pass percentage of 85.70%, an improvement from 85.12% the previous year. Overall, girls outshone boys by a margin of 5.94%. Notably, the transgender category achieved a 100% pass percentage in 2025, a significant jump from 50% in 2024.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) led the performance chart with a remarkable pass percentage of 99.29%, closely followed by Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) at 99.05%, and Central Tibetan Schools (STSS) at 98.96%. Among other institutions, government-aided schools achieved a pass percentage of 91.57%, while government schools recorded 90.48%. Independent (private) schools, though slightly lower in comparison, still maintained a solid pass percentage of 87.94%.

In the CBSE Class 12 Board Examinations 2025, the Vijayawada region recorded the highest pass percentage at 99.60%, followed closely by Trivandrum at 99.32% and Chennai at 97.39%. Other high-performing regions included Bengaluru (95.95%), Delhi West (95.37%), and Delhi East (95.06%). Regions like Chandigarh (91.61%), Panchkula (91.17%), Pune (90.93%), and Ajmer (90.40%) also recorded strong performances. In the mid-range, Bhubaneswar (83.64%), Guwahati (83.62%), Dehradun (83.45%), Patna (82.86%), and Bhopal (82.46%) showed consistent results. On the lower end of the spectrum were Noida (81.29%) and Prayagraj, which had the lowest pass percentage among all regions at 79.53%.

In the CBSE Class 10 examinations, a total of 17,04,367 students were registered. Out of these, 16,92,794 students appeared, and 14,96,307 students passed the exam.

CBSE has declared Class 12 results, 88.39% students have passed

For Class 12 CBSE students who have appeared in the Main Board Examination conducted in February-March and wish to improve their performance, they may do so in one subjects by appearing in the Supplementary Examination conducted in July of the same year.

If a Class 12 candidate misses not more than one examination, the student will be placed in the Compartment Category and can appear in the Supplementary examinations conducted in July each year.

In 2025, more than 44 lakh students appeared for the CBSE Class 10 and 12 examinations. The results are expected to be declared in the second week of May.

To the question, whether diagrams will fetch extra marks in subjects like Science or Geography, CBSE’s Controller of Examination Sanyam Bhardwaj noted that time management is crucial in any examination.

He told the The Indian Express that only draw diagrams if they are specifically asked for in question or they serve as value points in the answer.

He said that there is no benefit in spending time on diagrams that won’t fetch you marks. Focus instead on addressing the question’s requirements directly.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on February 25 held the Social Science exam for Class 10.

It was an 80-mark paper, and students were allotted three hours to complete the paper.

The students who appeared for the exam found the paper “moderate in difficulty”.

Teachers say that the structure of the paper was “a well-organised” one. It was largely NCERT-based, reinforcing the importance of conceptual clarity and thorough preparation.

Some questions were quite tricky, requiring careful interpretation and critical thinking.

In the previous year, 22,38,827 candidates from Class 10 appeared for the CBSE board exam, out of which 20,95,467 candidates passed.

Candidates appearing for class 10 examination have to secure overall 33% (IA/Project/Practical and Theory) in the subjects to be eligible to pass that subject.

Candidates appearing for class 12 examination have to secure 33% marks in theory & IA/Project/Practical separately & combined too.

CBSE'S Sanyam Bhardwaj told indianexpress.com that all education boards serve the same purpose. While CBSE and CISCE offer education primarily through the face-to-face mode, the NIOS provides education through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. Regardless of the mode, I believe that any recognized board is suitable for appearing in the Class X or XII examinations. Moreover, entrance examinations are not dependent on the board you study under. What truly matters is that you understand the requirements of the entrance exam you're aiming for and prepare accordingly.

As a first, CBSE has introduced a six-digit “access code” based activation for students’ Digilocker accounts. After the activation of Digilocker accounts, students can access their Digital Academic Documents under the ‘Issued Documents’ section.

The student-wise ‘Access Code’ file is being made available to schools in their Digilocker accounts from where the institutes can download and disseminate the Access Code to individual students.

In 2024, a total of 16,21,224 students appeared for the Class 12 exams, out of which 14,26,420 students successfully passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 87.98%. This marked a slight improvement from the 87.33% pass rate recorded in 2023. Girls continued to outperform boys with a pass percentage of 91.52%, compared to 85.12% for boys. Additionally, more than 24,000 students scored above 95%, while over one lakh students achieved scores above 90%.

In previous years, the CBSE Class 12 results were announced around mid-May. For instance, in 2024, the results were declared on May 13, while in 2023 they were released on May 12. The board conducted the Class 12 exams for the 2024 academic session between February 15 and April 2.

In a FAQ series by The Indian Express, CBSE Controller of Examinations, Sanyam Bhardwaj, cleared the passing marks criteria. For Class 10, students must secure a minimum of 33% marks overall (combining Internal Assessment/Project/Practical and Theory) in each subject to pass. For Class 12, students are required to obtain at least 33% marks separately in Theory and in Internal Assessment/Project/Practical, as well as 33% marks in total (combined) for each subject in order to pass. Once results are announced, the CBSE Board Class 12 Results 2025 will be made available on the official websites of the Board at cbse.gov.in and results.cbse.nic.in. In order to check CBSE Board Class 12 results 2025 on the official websites, they will be required to key in login details such as their roll number, date of birth, and school number.

Meanwhile, Digilocker has already announced on the micro blogging site ‘X’ that the CBSE results are “coming soon.” This status was updated yesterday morning.

Following the similar pattern of CBSE Class 12th Results, Trivandrum topped the CBSE Class 10th region-wise performance list for 2022, 2023, and 2024. Chennai has also held a stable third position across these three years.

Bengaluru followed closely behind, holding the second position in both 2022 and 2023, but dropped to fourth in 2024. Vijayawada emerged in 2024, claiming the second spot.

Ajmer, Delhi West, and Delhi East displayed fluctuating rankings, with Delhi West improving to fifth in 2024. Patna maintained a presence in all three years but showed inconsistency, ranking fourth in 2022, sixth in 2023, and twelfth in 2024.

Trivandrum has consistently secured the top position in Class 12 CBSE results for three years — 2022, 2023, and 2024. Chennai has also maintained a stable presence in the top three across all years, holding its position in the third spot. Bengaluru held the second rank in both 2022 and 2023 but dropped from the top ranks in 2024. Meanwhile, Vijayawada climbed to the second spot in 2024.

South India dominate the top 4 positions in the region-wise results. Delhi West has consistently stayed within the top five across these years, while Delhi East, reached the second position in 2022, slipped to seventh by 2024. Chandigarh also showed fluctuations — third in 2022, then fifth in 2023, and moved further down in 2024.

There are also some emerging regions like Ajmer, Pune, Patna, and Prayagraj have maintained competitive positions in the last three years.

The CBSE board Class 10 marksheet will include details such as the name of the student, total subject-wise marks, theory marks, practical marks, qualifying status (pass or fail), and more.

Students must note that the scorecard will be provisional, hence, the students are required to collect the original mark sheet from their schools.

This year, more than 42 lakh students appeared for the CBSE board examinations conducted from February 15 to April 4, 2025. Class 10 board exams concluded on March 18, while Class 12 exams wrapped up on April 4.

Step 1: Go to DigiLocker’s official website – digilocker.gov.in.

Step 2: Log in with your existing credentials or sign up for a new account if you don’t already have one.

Step 3: Navigate to the CBSE Results section, usually located under the “Education” or “Results” tab.

Step 4: Enter your CBSE roll number, school number, and other required details as per the instructions provided.

Step 5: After entering the details, you should be able to access your Class 10 or Class 12 results.

CBSE has introduced a ‘Relative Grading’ system, aimed at reducing academic stress and unhealthy competition among students. Unlike the previous fixed grading model — which allocated grades based on specific mark ranges (such as 91–100 for A1, 81–90 for A2) — the new system assesses a student’s performance in comparison to their peer group. As a result, the cutoff for each grade may vary depending on subject-wise performance trends and the number of passing candidates.

The Class 10 and Class 12 CBSE exams weer conducted from February 15 to April 4, 2025. While the Class 10 board exams started on February 15 and concluded on March 18, the Class 12 exams began on February 15 and wrapped up on April 4.
