With the demand for water increasing given the higher temperatures and its supply shortage in parts of the city, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to introduce water cut once a week to some areas from April 5.
The water cut will be introduced in areas that are supplied by the Vadgaon Water purification plant. The water cuts will be implemented on a rotational basis.
According to a PMC statement, the weekly water cut is being implemented as supply has been affected in certain areas and some localities receive an insufficient supply.
The areas facing a water crisis in Vadgaon water works area are Balajinagar, Katraj, Kondhwa, Suncity, Dhayari, Dhankawadi and Ambegaon.
The water supply has increased by 25 percent due to high consumption. The city has been witnessing temperatures of over 40 degrees since last few weeks and the IMD has estimated a heat wave in the city for the next few weeks.
