President of Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan D B alias Da Bhi Kulkarni will inaugurate this years Vasant Vyakhyanmala (spring lecture series) organised by the Vichar Mahotsav and the Vaktruttvottejak Sabha from Wednesday. Kulkarni will deliver a lecture on Dnyaneshwari-A New Perspective during the month-long lecture series.
This is the 136th year of Vasant Vyakhyanmala,a lecture series started by the Vaktruttvottejak Sabha founded by Justice Mahadeo Govind Ranade in 1871. This year,the lecture series will be held from April 21 to May 20.
According to Mandar Bedekar,secretary of the lecture series,various subjects including science,health,literature,finance,law,education,youth,history and social will be covered in the lecture series.
On May 1,on the occasion of golden jubilee year of the foundation of Maharshtra state,senior leader N D Patil will deliver lecture on Maharshtras Golden Jubilee:What has gained? What has not? Singer Shaila Datar will perform in the Marathi musical Sangeet Manapman on the occasion of the musical completing 100 years this year, said Bedekar.
While Nitin Apte will talk on Foresight of Swatantryaveer Savarkar,MP Supriya Sule will deliver a lecture on Women Empowerment. Entrepreneur Achala Joshi will share her experiences with the audience on May 5 and Rohini Nilekani of Arghyam will interact with the audience on May 10.
On May 18,youth elocution day will be celebrated. A few young speakers will be given an opportunity to express their opinion on Maharshtra in Golden Jubilee Year and Marathi in Maharashtra. Besides lectures,a special seminar will also be held on May 13.
Arun Firodiya,Suresh Shirke,Vivek Velankar and Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic) Manoj Patil will putforth their thoughts about various aspects of civic amenities including water supply,traffic and citizens role in this.
