Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad police have notified traffic changes and restrictions on heavy vehicles for Saturday, February 22, for the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Home Minister Shah is slated to attend various programmes in Pune on Saturday which include the meeting of the Western Zonal Council under purview of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, which will be attended by key functionalities from Maharashtra, Goa, Gujrat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu. The meeting is going to be held at a hotel in the Koregaon Park. Shah will also preside over a function in Balewadi for the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Both Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad police have notified traffic changes and restrictions on heavy vehicles which will be in force on Saturday.
Under the Hinjewadi Traffic Division, the following changes will be implemented: Traffic of heavy vehicles from Chande, Nande and Mahalunge to Radha Chowk and back will be stopped. An alternate route has been provided via Godrej Chowk and Hinjewadi. Alternately the traffic of heavy vehicles from Sus Bridge and Nyati Showroom will be diverted via Mumbai Bangalore Highway and Hinjewadi.
The road in front of the Mahalunge Main gate of the Balewadi Stadium will be closed for all vehicles on the patch between Sheetalai Devi Chowk and Mahalunge Police Chowky. Traffic between Radha Chowk and Mula River Bridge will be stopped except for the vehicles coming for the programme at Balewadi.
Baner Traffic Division will implement the following changes: Vehicles going to Radha Chowk via Baner Road will be diverted via Kia showroom underpass or Nanavare underpass. Vehicles from Highway bypass road coming to Baner Road will be diverted via Balewadi Jakat Naka and Balewadi High Street. Vehicles going from the city to Hinjewadi, Wakad, Lonavala and Mumbai have been advised not to take Baner Road but to take Pashan Road or Aundh Road.
A full day ban on heavy vehicles will be implemented on Pashan Road, Baner Road and Aundh Road on Saturday. A full day ban on slow moving very heavy vehicles will be implemented in Pune city on Saturday.
In Wanawadi, two way traffic movement will be implemented on the road between Turf Club and Water Tank Circle.
