Students seeking admission to Class 11 — blocked by colleges over their inability to provide non-creamy layer (NCL) certificates — have now been given a window, with the state government providing a timeline of three months for them to submit the document.
The students, however, have to fill an undertaking that they will submit the certificate within the timeline along with the Maha e-Seva Kendra application receipt, failing which the admission will be cancelled.
Earlier, college authorities in Pune had insisted on students producing an original NCL certificate, notwithstanding some of them producing the Maha e-Seva receipt as proof.
The authorities of Centralised Admission Process (CAP) were firm that admission will not be provided without the original certificate, triggering concern among students. At Fergusson College, a group of students and parents told The Indian Express that they were relieved to hear about the new window.
“Earlier, there wasn’t even a provision for provisional admission with an undertaking and the e-seva receipt, so we panicked,” said a parent.
The last date of the three-step admission process for the junior college is June 24.
