Sharing visuals from the rescue effort on social media, Nimbalkar, who represents the Dharashiv (Osmanabad) constituency in Lok Sabha, said, “I feel extremely happy to have saved the lives of residents of the Vadner village.”

According to district officials, a family of five was stranded on the roof of their house in the Paranda taluka since 2 am Sunday due to floodwaters surrounding their home. After learning about their situation from local residents, Nimbalkar rushed to the scene, and the NDRF team was also alerted.

As soon as the NDRF team arrived, Nimbalkar accompanied them to the spot and entered the floodwaters. “The family members were stranded on the roof of their house without food and water. With the help of the NDRF team, we rescued all of them safely,” he said.

District officials said the family has been taken to a rescue camp and is being cared for.

In its reaction, Shiv Sena (UBT) said, “Today, Dharashiv district saw what a Shiv Sainik of Balasaheb is all about. Five members of a family, including a grandmother, a two-year-old son and two others, were stuck on the roof of the house following the floods. Sena MP Nimbalkar safely rescued them with the help of NDRF and the villagers.”

Praising the MP, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said, “When an MP was saving villagers risking his life, where was district guardian minister Pratap Sarnaik? What was he doing in Mumbai? Is he not concerned about the flood situation in Dharashiv? It was his duty to rush to Dharashiv, take stock of the situation and help the stranded people. But he seems to be busy playing politics.”

Another senior leader said, “Without bothering about his own life, Nimbalkar entered the floodwaters and managed to reach the family. The NDRF team rescued them safely. The family was badly shaken for hours until they spotted the rescue team approaching them. The village residents also put in their efforts to save them.”

Dharashiv is part of the Marathwada region, which has been severely hit by heavy rains for the last few days. In response to severe flooding, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar reviewed the situation and ordered the administration to take immediate measures to airlift people from the affected areas.

At least four people died, 35 were airlifted, and over 50 were rescued from various regions of the Beed and Dharashiv districts.
