A man allegedly attacked his 80-year-old mother following a domestic dispute at their residence in Shaniwar Peth area of Pune city, around 10 pm on Saturday.
The old woman identified as Kusum Sapte was left injured in the incident. Her family member Ashish Samel (45) of Shaniwar Peth, lodged the first information report (FIR) in this case at the Vishrambag police station on Sunday.
Police arrested her son Avinash Sapte (65), resident of Mehunpura on Shaniwar Peth, on charges of attempt to murder, under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 109, 118(2), 352, 351(2)(3) and sections of the Indian Arms Act.
Police said there were tensions between Avinash and Kusum which led to a quarrel between them on Saturday night. Police said that Avinash was under the influence of alcohol and he allegedly attacked her mother Kusum with a sharp weapon. Avinash also allegedly attacked Samel, when he intervened to save Kusum, his grandmother.
After receiving information about the incident, a police team rushed to the spot and arrested Avinash.
Assistant police inspector Umesh Karke, the investigation officer said, a court has remanded the accused to police custody for four days.
