The crime branch (Unit II) of Pune police on Sunday arrested a historysheeter Durga Babu Mahanto alias Durga Nepali (22) who has cases of extortion,rape and dacoity registered against him. Police have recovered a country made pistol and some live cartridges from him.
Along with Nepali,police have arrested one of his accomplices,Manoj Gambhir Thapa (19). Both suspects were arrested from Katraj Naka in the afternoon,around 2 pm. Police said Nepali has three cases registered at Haveli police station. The firearm and the cartridges that have been recovered were brought for sale,police said.
A team of cops led by inspector Suresh Kekane has arrested the two based on a tip off from police naik Santosh Bhapkar.
Kekane said,When our team reached the spot,they got the information and description about of the attire of the suspects. Our team nabbed the two and confirm that one of them was Nepali and other was Thapa.
The investigating team consisted of constables Karbhari Handore,Sanjay Dalvi,Rajendra Sonavane,Dhulaji Kolpe,Vilas Shedge and Santosh Pagar.
