With Pune city getting ready to bid adieu to Ganpati Bappa on the upcoming Anant Chaturdashi, the Pune police recently announced traffic changes and road closures that will be enforced in a phased manner from 7 am on Tuesday. Moreover, the entry of heavy vehicles into the city has been completely banned on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Barricades will be put up on the connecting alleys of several key roads in the city. Pune traffic police officials said several roads in the central part of the city are expected to experience traffic snarls due to the movement of people on account of Anant Chaturdashi celebrations.
Here are the details shared by the traffic police:
Phased Road Closures
Shivaji Road and Laxmi Road will be closed from 7 am on Tuesday. Tilak Road, Bagade Road, and Guru Nanak Road will be closed to traffic from 9 am. Ganesh Road and Kelkar Road will be closed from 10 am. Bajirao Road, Shastri Road, and Kumthekar Road will be closed to traffic from noon.
From 4 pm onwards, vehicular traffic on key arterial roads including Jangli Maharaj Road, Karve Road, Fergusson College Road, Bhandarkar Road, Pune-Satara Road, Solapur Road, and Prabhat Road will be stopped. These road closures will remain in force till immersion processions are over on Wednesday.
Traffic Diversion Points on Arterial Roads
The points on important roads, from where the traffic will be diverted are Balgandharva Chowk on Jangli Maharaj Road, Good Luck Chowk on Fergusson College Road, Gadgil statue on Shivaji Road, Volga Square on Satara Road, Savarkar statue on Bajirao Road and Nal Stop on Karve Road.
A separate set of traffic changes will be implemented in Dhayari Phata, Keshav Nagar-Mundhwa, and Sasane Nagar-Hadapsar.
Temporary Ring Road
A temporary ring road for traffic will be formed by connecting the patches of Karve Road, Senapati Bapat Road, Ganeshkhind Road, Ambedkar Road, Nehru Road, Shivneri Road, Satara Road, Sinhagad Road, and Shastri Road.
