Woman found dead in swimming pool, husband accuses coaches of negligence

Shreya was married and worked at the Interactive Advertising Avenue in East Santa Cruz. Her husband blamed the summer camp management for her wife's death.

A 37-year-old woman was found dead in a swimming pool in Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul at Vile Parle East on Tuesday night. Shreya Bhosle, the deceased had joined a 15-day swimming summer camp there.

Due to unknown reasons she couldn’t attend the first week of the camp, however, she carried out her training programme in the last 8 days. It was the last day of the summer camp when her demise took place.

The actual cause of death according to the post-mortem is said to be Asphyxia or death due to drowning in the water.

Senior PI, Raksha Maha Rao said, “Around 60-70 women were training with Shreya under the supervision of swimming coaches. After the training, the women moved to the changing room. 10 minutes later, the swimming pool’s cleaning staff got down in the pool and found her body at the floor of the pool where the water level was 7.5m. Her heart was still beating therefore they gave her first aid and immediately took her to the hospital. The doctor checked her and just 5 minutes after she had arrived in the hospital, he confirmed her as dead.”

Shreya was married and worked at the Interactive Advertising Avenue in East Santa Cruz. Her husband blamed the summer camp management for her wife’s death. “She was just a beginner. She had only trained for a week and the management didn’t even provide her with a floating tyre. My wife died due to the negligence of the swimming coach and the swimming pool in-charge” said Shreya’s husband, Sushant Shantaram Bhosle.

Sushant has filed a case against the swimming coach, Vishal Tiwari and the swimming pool in-charge Sahadev Nevadekar under Section 304(A) which deals with death due to negligence.

The two accused have not been arrested by the police as yet. According to the police, the investigations are in process. The charges against the accused have not been proved as yet said the police.

Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul is run privately. It was closed on Wednesday due to the death of Shreya on Tuesday night at around 9.10 pm. No one could be reached from the management.
