Even as she is awaiting her return from Sharjah, Mumbai-based actor Chrisann Pereira put out an Instagram post saying that she was treated well by the police after her arrest in a narcotics case in which she had been framed by Mumbai resident Anthony Paul.

Pereira said in the post, “Despite the gap in language, the Sharjah police took me in and spoke to me very respectfully. They got officials to translate in Urdu and Hindi to get a clear picture. While they protected me, I was even reading a book at the police station.”

“At all times there was a minimum of one lady police officer accompanying me. Despite the magnitude and unresolved investigation at the beginning, they never handcuffed me. I respected the law and procedure of their land and they respected me. They even gave me details of the case that I didn’t know about and guaranteed me of the just judicial system,” the post read.

She added, “Inside prison, they let me meet medical professionals and let me continue my course of medications. I request you to respect the truth, the law and follow the right sources of information in this tough time. I trust the officials will see that I’m innocent and allow me to fly back home soon. I am grateful to be alive and unharmed. I hope to meet the airport & jail officials at Sharjah and say Shukraan (Thankyou in Arabic) before I take my flight back to my homeland. Love, Chrissy.”

While she was granted bail on Wednesday, the next hearing in Pereira’s case is on Monday. Once she gets her passport back, she will fly to India.
