Shiv Sena camps plan two foundation day celebrations

This would be the first foundation day of the Shiv Sena after the split in the party in June last year and after the Election Commission of India recognised the Shinde-led faction as the real ‘Shiv Sena’ and also allotted the party’s original ‘bow and arrow’ symbol.

Ahead of the foundation day celebration, the Shiv Sena Uddav Balasaheb Thackeray will organise a mega plenary of the party on June 18 at Worli, where around 10,000 office-bearers are expected to arrive from all over the country.

“Ahead of the foundation day, a mega plenary will be organised in Worli on June 18. Like every year, the foundation day will be held at Shanmukhanand hall in Sion,” said Shiv Sena UBT leader Anil Desai.

During the foundation day celebrations at the NESCO Exhibition centre in Goregaon, the Shinde-led Sena camp is likely to pass several resolutions and make new appointments of office bearers.

A massive show of strength is expected by the two parties at the events. In October last year, the two factions of Shiv Sena organised two separate Dussehra rallies.

Starting from June 19, the Shinde-led Sena will have 11-day long celebrations till June 30 to mark the Shiv Sena’s foundation day. The Shinde-led BJP-Shiv Sena government will also complete a year in the state on June 30.

“The foundation day of Shiv Sena and the completion of one year of the government will be celebrated in a big way. We will hold a door-to-door outreach programme in the state to take Balasaheb’s (Thackeray) ideology to every household ensure the good work done by us is known to people,” said Eknath Shinde.
