Seat-sharing formula among the agenda of INDIA meeting

Unveiling of INDIA alliance logo, formation of coordination committee, appointment of convenors, a discussion on the possible seat-sharing formula between the INDIA constituents for the general elections, strategies for the general elections and several others are on the agenda of the Opposition INDIA alliance meeting scheduled to be held in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1.

“A state-wise seat-sharing formula could be discussed during the meeting. A logo of the alliance would also be unveiled on August 31. The logo will reflect the country and its unity, and those things that unify the country,” a senior leader from the Opposition said, adding that few more political parties may also join the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena (UBT) on Monday released the first video teaser of the Opposition INDIA alliance meeting in Mumbai.


Earlier, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut had said, “some parties from the north-east have approached and a decision (on their inclusion in alliance) will be taken about it by all the parties.”

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra which includes Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and NCP has geared up for the INDIA alliance meeting and has formed several committees to plan various arrangements of the meeting.

The committees include two leaders from every party who are looking after the arrangements such as handling of media, social media, accommodation and transport, security, welcoming of all the dignitaries among other things.

While the Congress has the responsibility of taking care of media, publicity on social media and other platforms, the NCP is taking care of transport.

The Sena (UBT), which is the host of the third meeting of Opposition parties, is looking after the accommodation and dinner and other arrangements of the meeting at Grand Hyatt hotel in Vakola where nearly 150 rooms have been booked for two days for the dignitaries and the leaders.

At the second Opposition unity meeting in Bengaluru, the 26 opposition parties agreed to the new name of the alliance INDIA, which was proposed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Nearly 80 top leaders from 26 parties and five Chief Ministers from Opposition bloc will be attending the INDIA alliance meeting. This is the first meeting of the INDIA alliance in a state where none of the bloc members are in power. The INDIA meeting is being hosted by Shiv Sena (UBT).
