A 26-year-old doctor has filed a complaint with Mumbai’s Malad police station after he found a piece of flesh with nail in a cone ice cream he ordered online on Wednesday. An unidentified employee of the ice cream manufacturer has been booked and further probe is on.

According to police, the complainant is Dr Brandon Ferrao who is preparing for post-graduation entrance after securing his MBBS from Russia. On Wednesday morning, his sister had ordered some groceries along with three cones of Yummo ice cream from Zepto.

As per the his statement to the police, while having the ice cream in the afternoon, Ferrao discovered a piece of a nail in it. “When I carefully examined, I found that it was a flesh with a broken nail attached to it,” said Ferrao.

The doctor then contacted the customer care department of the ice cream manufacturer and complained. But seeing no response from the company, he approached Malad police station with the piece of flesh he found in the ice cream.

On the doctor’s complaint, police registered a case against the unidentified employee of Yummo under sections 272 (adulteration of food article), 273 (selling food or drink that has become noxious), and 336 (rash and dangerous act endangering human life) of the Indian Penal Code.

Police are sending the flesh to the forensic lab to ascertain if the flesh is of a human or any animal, said an officer.
