Police on Wednesday detained a man for allegedly making a threat call to ‘blow up’ the Dhirubhai Ambani International School at Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) the previous day.
According to police, the accused at 4:30 pm on Tuesday allegedly made a phone call to the school’s landline number and threatened to blow up the building, following which a complaint was registered at the local BKC police station.
The accused — who identified himself as Vikram Singh — had allegedly told the school authorities that he ‘planted a bomb inside the school’. The man allegedly made another phone call to the school authorities some time later, and ‘reconfirmed his claim’.
The school authorities immediately informed the local police, and an investigation was launched. Based on initial intelligence, the call was made from outside Mumbai, said a police officer, requesting anonymity.
A man was apprehended in connection with the case, said the officer, adding that a further investigation is underway.
