The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai will facilitate the travel — including arrivals and departures — of over 65,000 Haj pilgrims between May and July 2024 during the annual pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina.
This year, there is a significant 157 per cent increase in the number of Haj pilgrims travelling through CSMIA compared to 2023, when 12,815 pilgrims departed from the airport.
The annual Haj flights from CSMIA operate for two months each year. For 2024, departure flights commenced on May 25 and will continue until June 12. The arrival of returning pilgrims is tentatively scheduled to commence in July 2024.
Airlines such as IndiGo, Air India, Vistara, and Saudia Airlines will collectively operate 11 flights daily. During the peak Haj period, Saudia Airlines manages the official Haj movement from CSMIA. To accommodate the significant increase in pilgrim traffic, 101 additional ferry flights have been scheduled for both departures and arrivals.
According to the CSMIA, a comprehensive range of facilities and services will be provided exclusively for Haj pilgrims at Terminal 2.
