Maharashtra Revenue Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil on Sunday sought action against Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, chief of Bageshwar Dham, for his remarks on Shirdi Saibaba.

“A criminal complaint should be filed and action should be taken against him for his irresponsible statement,” the BJP leader told reporters.
“I don’t consider Saibaba as God. He may be called a saint or fakir”– this comment by self-styled godman Dhirendra Krishna Shastri has triggered criticism.

Taking strong objection to the statement, the minister said, “What right does he have to question Saibaba?”

The minister, who is said to be close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, further added, “If Bageshwar Dham wants to campaign for any religion or outfit, he should do within four walls. But such irresponsible statements lead to communal unrest.”

“Shastri himself has been under attack from Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti chief Shyam Manav who challenged him. Why has he not accepted the challenge?” the minister asked.
