Maratha quota stir: Maharashtra cyber police pull down 29 objectionable posts in 24 hrs

With the Maratha quota stir intensifying across the state, the Maharashtra cyber police have intensified vigilance on social media and has taken down 29 objectionable posts from various platforms in 24 hours.

According to an officer, the posts were very provocative and had the potential to trigger violence, hence, were pulled down in coordination with the intermediaries or service provider.

While some of the posts had objectionable comments about political leaders, some had abusive comments and some others had morphed images of the leaders.

The state cyber police are also sharing information with the district police.

According to sources in the state cyber police department, people who have posted objectionable content are being warned not to upload such material again. In instances of uploading objectional content intentionally, police have decided to take stern action, including registration of an FIR.

The superintendents of police (SPs) of districts  from where violence has been reported have been instructed to put their social media cells on alert for such inciting material.
