Jitendra Awhad questions legitimacy of Ajit Pawar being made NCP chief

Clarifying that party president has a right to expel MLAs and MPs from the party for anti-party activities, Awhad said that Delhi's meeting of working committee only confirmed it.

QUESTIONING THE attendance at the meeting held on June 30 which appointed Ajit Pawar as president of the Nationalist Congress Party, the Sharad Pawar group on Friday demanded to know the people present at the meeting then.

“If you claim the meeting was held on June 30, then you must inform who was there?” asked NCP MLA and Sharad Pawar supporter Jitendra Awhad. Awhad has been appointed as the Chief Whip of the NCP by the Sharad Pawar group. He was replying to the claims made by Ajit Pawar supporter Praful Patel at a press conference held earlier.

Awhad also questioned the appointment of Ajit Pawar as the NCP president on June 30. “How can appointment be made without informing national election committee? Your (Patel’s) appointment in the party has been made by national president Sharad Pawar. Then how can you make any appointment without informing him, ” he asked.

He added that the working committee meeting was attended by 24 state unit presidents and all have said that they support only Sharad Pawar.
