Several parts of Mumbai went under water after incessant rain on Wednesday, resulting in traffic jams across the city.

According to the traffic police, both the north and south-bound channels between Bandra and Goregaon on the Western Express highway were severely affected.

The Mumbai traffic police tweeted that due to water logging of upto two-and-a-half feet in the Andheri subway, vehicular movement had to be diverted to the S V Road.

Traffic snarls were also reported on the eastern express highway near Chedda Nagar in Ghatkopar, Matunga, S V road in Bandra, Oshiwara, Jogeshwari, and Malad.

The traffic police said several inner lanes across the western side of the city were also choked due to heavy rainfall. “Traffic is slow due to rain at Bhatia Bagh, CST Junction, BMC Road, GPO, Avtar Singh Bedi,” the Mumbai traffic police tweeted.

It further informed that breakdown of vehicles on the northbound stretch of the Eastern Freeway has caused traffic to move slowly.
The traffic department added that vehicular movement remained affected even in Powai, Andheri, as well as the LBS roads in Bhandup, Ghatkopar, and Sion due to the rainfall.
