Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday directed to build high-speed connectivity between Vadhavan port in Palghar district to Nashik in north Maharashtra. He also said that the Mumbai Metro 3 line work should be completed by June / July.
Fadnavis held a review meeting of all major infrastructure projects in the state at the Mantralaya’s war room. “Vadhavan port in Palghar district is one of the key projects for sea trade which will speed up the state’s industrial and export policy,” said Fadnavis. Apart from ensuring that land required for the port be given by March 31, he also directed to appoint a consultant to check the possibility of constructing a new airport at Vadhavan.
The CM also directed the government officials to complete the work on Mumbai Metro – 3 by June/July.
Commenting on Wainganga-Nalganga River Linking projects, which is one of the biggest river linking projects in the country, Fadnavis asked to issue a work order by Monday for the survey of the project. At an estimated cost of Rs 88,000 crore the project may bring almost 10 lakh acre land under irrigation, benefiting Vidarbha.
Fadnavis held a review of a total of 19 projects which also include Nimn Pedi Irrigation project, Krishna-Koyna lift irrigation scheme, Virar-Alibaug Multimodal corridor, BDD Chawl redevelopment project, Bandra-Versova sea link, Thane Ring Metro, Pune Ring Road, Pune Metro-3 and Dharavi redevelopment project.
“All ambitious infrastructure projects in Maharashtra should be completed in a speedy and time bound manner. There has to be balance between the infrastructure projects in rural and urban areas which will create equal opportunity of development in all parts of the state,” he said, adding that delays will have to be tackled aggressively and concerned departments will be held responsible for any delays.
