Event decided as per time given by Appasaheb, says Mungantiwar

State Industries Minister Uday Samant claimed there was no negligence on part of the government and the event was organised after discussions with Shree Sadasya (followers of Dharmadhikari), but the opposition was trying to politicise the issue.

As opposition parties on Monday attacked the Maharashtra government over the death of 13 attendees during an event held at Kharghar, State Culture Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar urged them not to ‘politicise’ the tragedy and said the event’s timing was decided as per the time given by Appasaheb Dharmadhikari.

“It was an unfortunate incident. The Shri Sadasya (followers of Dharmadhikari) had happily and willingly come there. The government had made all the arrangements. However, the tragedy took place. The sun was burning… and the temperature was around 42 degrees Celsius. Because of this, some followers suffered sunstroke. Everything does not need to be politicised and the opposition should think before politicising such tragedies. The event timing was decided as per the time given by Appasaheb,” Mungantiwar told the media on Monday.

State Industries Minister Uday Samant claimed there was no negligence on part of the government and the event was organised after discussions with Shree Sadasya (followers of Dharmadhikari), but the opposition was trying to politicise the issue.

“The administration did not organise the function on its own by dictatorship. We organised it only after discussing it with Shri Sadasya. But it is our misfortune that there are politicians in our state who are politicising that unfortunate incident. Some people are busy criticising the government, pointing out the government’s fault rather than providing comfort to those whose families have suffered. The programme was organised by the government in a clean and transparent manner,” said Samant.

“Complete preparations were made for the event. Bus service was provided for people to reach the venue. Doctors, nurses, helpers and ambulances were arranged. But in two days, the temperature increased due to a change in the atmosphere. Some people had come there the night before. It was not right to stop them from reaching the venue in advance. All the necessary arrangement required for first aid was there,” said Samant.

The minister said 13 people had died due to heat stroke while 20 were still undergoing treatment and 26 had been discharged recently.
