Elgaar Parishad case accused allowed to appear for law entrance exam

A special court in Mumbai on Friday allowed Elgaar Parishad case accused Sagar Gorkhe to attend a Law entrance exam.

Gorkhe, who was arrested in 2020 in connection with the case, had filed a plea before special court stating that he wants to take the CET exam conducted by State Common Interest Test Cell for an LLB course and wants to be taken to the assigned exam centre.

The court permitted Gorkhe to appear for the entrance exam on scheduled date and time next week at the centre as per the hall ticket issued by the exam authority.

The special judge said that the applicant shall be sent with the Navi Mumbai police escort to the exam centre in such a way that he shall reach the centre 45 minutes prior to commencement of said the exam.

After taking the test, he shall be lodged back to the Taloja Central prison. “The applicant shall be given a waiver for the escort charges. The applicant shall not misuse the permission granted to the applicant vide this order,” the court noted.
