Earthquake of 3.8 magnitude hits Maharashtra’s Nanded district

Earthquake Magnitude 3.8 Hit Maharashtra: An earthquake of magnitude 3.8 on the Richter scale struck Maharashtra’s Nanded district at 6.52 am on Tuesday, as per the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

The earthquake’s epicentre was located at a latitude of 19.38 North and a longitude of 77.46 East and was 5 km deep into the earth’s surface.

“EQ of M: 3.8, On: 22/10/2024 06:52:40 IST, Lat: 19.38 N, Long: 77.46 E, Depth: 5 Km, Location: Nanded, Maharashtra,” said NCS’s Tuesday post on X.

No casualties or loss of property has been reported in or around Nanded district.

Nanded lies in the zone II on the seismic map of India, which is least prone to earthquakes. The city is situated in the Marathwada Division of Maharashtra on the northern banks of the Godavari River.


Earlier, in September this year, an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 was recorded in Maharashtra’s Amravati district on, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) had said.
