Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar on Tuesday directed CIDCO to initiate action for the installation of a ‘Shiv Smarak’ and ‘Shiv Mudra’ along the road leading to the Navi Mumbai International Airport.

He conveyed a meeting at Mantralaya on Tuesday regarding the proposed installation of a ‘Shiv Smarak’ and ‘Shiv Mudra’ near the Atal Setu bridge.
MLA Mahesh Baldi, MLA Prashant Thakur, Secretary Dr. Kiran Kulkarni, Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde and officials from CIDCO and MMRDA were present for the meeting.

The concept of a ‘Shiv Smarak’ is to install a statue of the warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who is highly revered in Maharashtra.
Whereas, Shivmudra (also referred as Rajmudra) was the official seal written in Sanskrit used by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to legitimise documents, letters and orders during his era.

The inscriptions on the seal (stamp) depicts the ideal of Swarajya. It states the “kingdom’s glory will be so illustrious like a shining moon, revered by the world and completely dedicated in the service for people’s welfare”.

Shelar said, ” Maharashtra boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage, and it is important for everyone to be aware of it. Since Navi Mumbai International Airport, located in the district of Raigad, the capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, will welcome visitors from across the world, he stressed the importance of showcasing Maharashtra’s culture and legacy.”

CIDCO has been asked to submit this proposal to the State Government for approval and expedite the work. The Minister also emphasised that all implementing agencies must secure the necessary permissions from the concerned departments to ensure smooth and timely execution of the project.
