AFTER complaints from bus pass holders on increase in waiting time in queue, the BEST undertaking conducted a three-day survey at Shivaji Park bus depot, one of its busiest.

The survey was aimed at assessing the waiting time for people to buy or renew bus passes.

While 45 per cent of 743 persons managed to get their pass or renew it within two minutes, nearly 18 per cent had to spent six-ten minutes in queue.

In the three days,21 persons had to wait 20-30 minutes in the queue while 35 had to wait 16 -20 minutes.

BEST committee member Kedar Hombalkar said,“There are at least five lakh bus pass holders. With this number growing, the waiting time in queue is also increasing. We have to ensure that our passengers get quick service.”

BEST general manger O P Gupta said,“During peak hours in the day,the server tends to slow down as there is a rush of passengers.”

The issue of waiting time at depots was raised in a committee meeting when the results of the survey were shared with members.
