Slum dwellers in Mumbai can now get certified copies of rent payment records online. The facility is one of the 22 services offered by the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) that is now available on the Maharashtra government’s Aaple Sarkar portal.
The initiative, which was recently launched under the direction of SRA Chief Executive Officer Dr Mahendra Kalyankar, aims to provide critical approvals and documents in a time-bound and transparent way. Officials said the change is likely to cut down physical visits to SRA offices and also make services more accessible for housing societies, slum dwellers, and developers alike.
The services also extend to certified copies of Annexure VI, Annexure II, and other such documents that are typically needed while executing slum rehabilitation projects.
“Project Affected Persons (PAP) are now able to apply for certified copies of allotment orders online. Developers will have access to copies of GIS CDs filed with the SRA, and slum dwellers will be able to check receipts from the Slum Holders Identity Card Survey via the portal,” said a senior official. The consent form for variation in land use, occupancy certificates, and certified copies of approved maps have also been made available online.
According to the official, cooperative housing societies will benefit from the inclusion of registration services on the platform. The SRA has also facilitated heirship transfer-related services in situations where a hutment holder who is eligible dies before allotment of the flat. Flat transfers, post five years of an occupancy certificate, are now possible online.
Another functionality available on the portal is the ability to lodge complaints in respect of house rent disputes of slum dwellers. “This is set to put in place a more organised system of addressing such complaints, which we receive in loads,” added the official.
The Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, 2015, stipulates that public services must be provided within predetermined timeframes. Through the online launch of these 22 services, the SRA plans to bring its own operations in line with the Act while reducing delays and paperwork.
