Several colleges in Mumbai Tuesday declared the first merit list of First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions for minority quota seats.

After the Class 10 results saw a drop in passing percentage, the cut-offs for many colleges too have witnessed a drop.

At HR College, which is popular for Commerce, the cut-off is 60.17 per cent which was 70 per cent last year. At St. Xavier’s college, except Arts stream, cut-off for other streams remain almost same as that of last year. In the Arts stream it has seen a drop from last year’s 83.6 percent to 81.60 this year.

Other colleges which have declared merit lists are St. Andrew’s College and Jai Hind College.

NM College and Mithibai College have deferred their first merit list for quota admission as the office of the Deputy Director of Education (DyDE) issued a revised schedule for the FYJC admission process.

According to the circular by DyDE office, students of Maharashtra State Board are to receive their marksheets on June 14 at their respective schools.

“Students will get their school leaving certificate, along with their masksheets. As these documents are crucial for students to confirm admissions, a revised time-table is being prepared,” read the circular. As per the revised time-table, the first merit list of the minority admissions will be out on June 15. Some of the minority-trust run colleges have decided to declare their merit list accordingly, instead of today.

“But this information was communicated to us much later when our minority merit list was ready and put-up on our website,” said Dr. Pooja Ramchandani, Principal of HR college.

But she highlighted that this does not cause any issue to students as colleges that have issued the first merit list will now realign with the revised time table for admissions.
