Liquor shops to remain closed after 10 pm on December 31

Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana has ordered that all liquor vends will remain closed from 10 pm on December 31 to 7 am on January 1.

The Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana has ordered that all liquor vends will remain closed from 10 pm on December 31 to 7 am on January 1.

The DC said that youngsters create ruckus on the roads on December 31 midnight to celebrate the New Year and also drink on roadsides.

“This causes law and order problem in the city and may result in accidents due to rash driving,” he added. The DC asked concerned departments to get the order implemented so that the public does not feel harassed.

However in previous years, youngsters have been witnessed drinking out in the open and even throwing liquor bottles from their cars.
