Specialised coaching for government school students, who want to appear for competitive exams through Edusat, has come to halt.

According to sources,it has been more than a month that Edusat had stopped functioning. Thus,no coaching is being provided to students of Classes XI and XII. Daily, students come for coaching, but are kept waiting in vain.

Narender Saggar,District Coordinator of Edusat (Ludhiana) said: “The life of the previous sateliite is over. So,it is not a state level or district level problem — it is related to ISRO. The ISRO engineers are trying to connect classrooms with the new satelitte. Hope it will be functional by January 15.”

The special coaching sessions began about three years ago in several government senior secondary schools in the state. The coaching is provided through Punjab Edusat Society and Gyan Education Trust in New Delhi.

The students are imparted coaching to appear in competitive exams of Indian Instititute of Technology (IIT),All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE),Combined Entrance Test (CET) and Pre-Medical Test (PMT) among others,at four centers in Ludhiana district.

Daily, sessions are conducted on at least two subjects. After a week,a test is conducted. The subjects covered are Physics,Chemistry,Mathematics and Biology.

“After sometime,Edusat will also be provided in state government high schools,” said Saggar.
